On Sunday 9 November 2025, more than 10,000 runners took part in the Alpes-Maritimes Nice-Cannes Marathon, a major sporting event on the French Riviera.
From the Promenade des Anglais in Nice to the Croisette in Cannes, participants covered 42.195 km in a breathtaking setting, between the sea and palm trees, under brilliant autumn light.
Our team at SPACE VISUALS, specialising in sports audiovisual production, had the privilege of covering the event for the Palais des Festivals de Cannes.
A fascinating project that allowed us to capture all the energy, performance and emotion of this exceptional day through photography, video and drone.
As such, our mission went far beyond simple filming: it was about conveying a true human and visual adventure.
A legendary marathon between sea and performance!
An iconic event in the French sporting calendar, the Nice-Cannes Marathon has established itself as the second largest marathon in France, after Paris. Furthermore, its route connects two flagship cities of the French Riviera, passing through Saint-Laurent-du-Var, Cagnes-sur-Mer, Villeneuve-Loubet, Antibes-Juan-les-Pins and Golfe-Juan, before a majestic finish in front of the steps of the Palais des Festivals.
Indeed, this journey between sea and light showcases an exceptional natural heritage while offering a unique sporting challenge. This 2025 edition was marked by the victory of Kenya's Dickson Kiprop (2h13m30s) in the men's race and Irene Korir (2h39m41s) in the women's race, cheered on by a large crowd who came to enjoy this celebration of sport and the Mediterranean.
In other words, a powerful moment for both participants and spectators.
Our mission: telling the story of the race differently!
For this report, our objective was clear: to showcase the event and its partners through powerful and dynamic imagery.
Consequently, our teams were positioned throughout the course to capture:

key moments of the race,

the intense expressions of the athletes,

the seaside atmosphere,

and the magnificent finish in Cannes, enhanced by aerial drone shots.
Thanks to this organisation, and precise coordination between our video operators, photographers and drone pilots, we were able to provide comprehensive and immersive coverage of the day, from the start in Nice to the medal ceremony at the Palais des Festivals.
Moreover, this collaborative approach allowed us to obtain varied, authentic images full of emotion.
The importance of drones in sports production!
Drones now play an essential role in the audiovisual filming of sports events.
Indeed, at the Nice-Cannes Marathon, they allowed us to capture the grandeur of the Riviera landscape and highlight the collective and festive dimension of the race.
Furthermore, aerial images offer a unique perspective on the runners' progress along the sea, showcasing both the territory and the human effort.
Thus, the drone becomes an indispensable tool for enhancing the visual narrative of a sports event.
